Bokrijk is a historical/family park with old buildings from all over Belgium put into one spot (think Old World Wisconsin for all of our blog stalkers in WI). the buildings and towns are also equiped with actors who work and live as they did in the past to make the towns feel authentic. It was such an honor to photograph one of my dearest friend's weddings - in Belgium! The tradition is a bit different than in the USA. First the groom brings the flowers to the Brides door and asks her to marry him. Then we take portraits, then to the city hall/church, then to the reception. Receptions last a lot longer in Belgium - the party ended about 4:30am! What a blast. Congrats to the newly weds. We love you!

Five years ago today I married the most wonderful woman in the world. She's since stuck with me through thick and thin, good and bad, and four and a half years of undergrad studies. I am grateful everyday to wake up by her side and have her call me her husband, friend, lover, wrestling buddy (sorry Sarah, I had to put that picture in), and business partner. She is more than a man could ask for and I would marry her again in a heart-beat.

We are in Belgium to shoot my dear friend, Karolien's, wedding. To show you just how very sweet she is I took pictures of the candy on our pillows and the yellow ribbon she on her front gate. Ik hou van jou Karolientje!!!

Here is a fabulous chateau that Richard & Katherine took us to. They even treated us to dinner at another chateau - it was like something out of the movies!!!!

While at Larroque, Richard and Katherine treated us to the annual musical competition in the nearby town of Condom - Bandas a Condom. The bands hailed from all over the region and played Spanish brass-band style seen commonly at bull fighting events. They are judged on several levels and often play all through the night.

Check out this local winery! The wine tasting was fantastic and the mustard is amazing!!!!  They had this adorable Donkey, Olaf.  He was glued to the fence to see our every move and when we went inside he screamed out "Heeee, Haaaaww, Heeee, Haaawww!" - not kidding - look at the photo of all four of us.  Check out their site HERE.

We just spent the weekend in the South of France ("Real Wine Country") to stay with my Dad's cousin, Richard - his wife, Katherine, and her son, Arthur. They have a fabulous house (Larroque) named for the rock it was built on. It is actually in the middle of a vineyard and used to be a working winery - Just Fabulous!!! They showed us the most amazing time too... more to come.
